Under our current deployment system, patrol officers are scheduled to have weekends off every other week and only work 7 days every two weeks.
Technology & Tools
The City of Hutto has long been at the forefront of law enforcement technology. It was one of the first departments in the region to have patrol car video cameras and electronic ticket writers to reduce the time of traffic stops. Our officers have some of the best equipment available.

Take Home Vehicle Program
At the Hutto Police Department, your office is your vehicle. After completing field training, each officer is assigned a patrol vehicle he or she can drive to and from home, when you live within 10 miles of the department.
Each vehicle is equipped with:
- Mobile data computer
- Dual antenna moving radar
- Shotgun
- Electronic Ticket Writer
- Mobile-Vision video camera system
The department also provides uniforms, regulation service weapons, duty gear and dry cleaning.
